Tencent did say they are looking into it and working with riot on some sort of animation/movie type project.
텐센트는 우리가 그것을 주시하고 있는중이고 라이엇과 같이 소프트 애니메이션/영화화 방식의 프로젝트를 작업하고 있어.
They're not disclosing exactly what it is just yet. It could end up being a mini series or something, rather than a full blown movie.

But they are creating a dedicated team for this and plan to do it all in house, rather than license the IP/outsource.

I think they're better off doing a series and only using champions that are relevant to that particular storyline (EG Noxus vs Ionia). It'd be a bloated mess if they try to fit in as many appearances as they can.

It would only make sense to have ezreal the protagonist. because he is an explorer who would take the audience on an adventure through runeterra.

Sorry to kill the hype guys. I need to manage expectations. The source can't be legit or must be mis-interpreted. I would not be surprised if it is journalist speculations. To be clear, all development within the LoL IP is driven by Riot directly. Whether it is music, cinematics, etc... and obviously games. Should there be efforts on movies or animation within the League universe, it would be driven by Riot, not our publishing partners nor investors. Riot has full control on its IP and the related creative projects. We collaborate a ton with Tencent when we bring our products to China (games and beyond games). But the actual creative and production work happens in our studio in Los Angeles, not in China.

Tencent is not blizzard. This isn't WoW. I would also like to see a LoL movie, but for the love of god, keep it to animation or CG. We all know what will happen otherwise..... It will be shit.
