제가 어제 붉셔남 글을 읽고 하나 번역하려던 참에 일리단 책에 관한 새 글이 올라와서 올려봅니다. 마침 유정게에 sdkfml님이 어느 정도 번역을 해두셔서 그 글을 기준으로 붉셔남이 쓴 글처럼 완성형 문장으로 쭉 번역할게요.

-The dreadlord homeworld is called Nathreza. It's not the world they were worshipping the void lords on mentioned in Chronicle.
공포의 군주의 고향은 나스레자라고 불렸습니다. 그 세계는 크로니클에서 언급했던 공허 군주들을 섬기는 세계는 아니었습니다.
-Worlds that belong to races in the Legion are not destroyed, instead they remain inhabited and intact. Nathreza is full of giant cities and gleaming obsidian towers, all fel-corrupted of course.
군단에 소속되는 종족들의 세계는 파괴되지 않고 온전하고 거주 가능한 채로 보존되었습니다. 나스레자는 지옥에 타락하긴 했지만 거대한 도시와 빛나는 흑요석 탑들로 가득찬 세계였습니다.
-These Legion worlds are among the "areas significantly covered in fel magic" mentioned in Chronicle. If a demon is killed on Nathreza or Argus, etc. they die permanently.
이런 군단의 세계는 연대기에 언급된것 처럼 "지옥 마력으로 뒤덮혀져 있는 공간"입니다. 만약 악마가 나스레자나 아르거스같은 곳에서 죽는다면 영원히 죽게 됩니다.
-Illidan's master plan which would have succeeded if a raid group didn't kill him, was to open a portal to Argus and kill Archimonde and Kil'jaeden there.
공격대가 일리단을 죽이지 않았다면 성공했을지 모를 그의 계획은 아르거스에 포탈을 열고 그곳에서 아키몬드와 킬제덴을 죽이는 것이었습니다.
-It confirms the "only one Legion across all realities" stuff, and explains how that works, and that Archimonde is still alive after Warcraft III.

-Illidan is not portrayed as a hero, the idea being, and outright said by one of the main characters (a demon hunter named Vandel) is basically "Yes, Illidan's a madman, but he's the only one capable of defeating the Burning Legion so that's we follow him."

It does mention that every world that doesn't end up joining the Legion is left a lifeless Mardum or Outland type husk (though not shattered, just lifeless and barren). It's only places like Nathreza and Argus that remain intact strongholds.
His demon hunter army was his trump card. They tore through Nathreza's armies like a blade through tissue paper, with the added benefit of the demons' deaths being permanent.
There is a line that seems kind of like its implying Illidan won't come back to life in Legion.
It's mentioned that if his soul were to be severed from his body, he could never be resurrected and would be stuck as a spirit for all eternity. That sounds a lot like what Gul'dan did with his body in Black Rook Hold.
책은 군단에 합류하지 않은 세계는 결국 생명이라곤 없는 마르둠이나 아웃랜드와 같은 잔해로 남게 된다는 것(부서지지 않더라도, 생명이 없는 황량한 상태로) 을 분명히 언급합니다. 나스레자와 아르거스와 같은 곳만이 유일하게 멀쩡하게 남아 있습니다.
일리단의 악마사냥꾼 군대는 비장의 수단이었습니다. 그들은 칼로 휴지를 베듯이 나스레자의 군대를 찢어버렸으며 그와 함께 악마들에게 영원한 죽음을 안겼습니다. 여기서 일리단이 군단에서 생명을 다시 얻지 못할 것임을 암시하는 것 같은 부분이 있습니다.
만약 일리단의 영혼이 그의 육체로부터 끊어진다면, 그는 부활할 수 없으며 영원히 영혼의 형태에 갇혀버린다고 언급됩니다. 이것은 검은 까마귀 요새에서 굴단이 일리단의 육체로 하려는 짓과 유사하게 보입니다.

Well, I finished the book. It's really good, probably one of my favorite WoW novels.
Don't worry, Illidan does some very awful stuff too. Two things in particular are so heinous in an "ends justify the means" way that they're what cause Akama to free Maiev and rise up against him despite the threat of the Shade.
Also, the ending is pretty major. I won't spoil it, but it has some important lore that makes me see why the book came out after Chronicle, it wouldn't make sense otherwise without some of the information from it. I'll give you one hint though: Sylvannas isn't Kerrigan.
Last note: I really hope Vandel (one of the point of view characters who I'm pretty sure is meant to be William King's actual character he plays in WoW based on one interview) shows up in game. He's given waaaay too much importance in the plot for it to make sense for him to just never be brought up again
Sylvanas appears?
Not at all. I was referring to how everyone was saying in the Legion thread that Sylvannas was going to end up being like Kerrigan at the end of LotV. She's not the one you should be comparing Kerrigan to... And that's all I'll say on it.
Illidan likes Vashj most out of his advisers because she's the only one who seems to be completely, unwavering loyal to him. He doesn't care at all when he learns she died, though.
We're portrayed as misguided fools who are doing the Burning Legion's bidding for them and destroying our best chance at defeating them. To say more would be spoiling things too far.
감상 부분
이 책을 다 읽었습니다. 정말 훌륭하고, 아마도 제가 정말 좋아하는 와우 소설 명단에 들 것 같네요.
걱정하지 마세요. 일리단은 몇몇 끔찍한 짓들도 합니다. 그 중 두 가지는 "목적이 수단을 정당화한다"는 부류로 몹시 극악무도하기에, 아카마가 어둠(Shade)의 위협에도 불구하고 마이에브를 풀어줘 일리단에게 맞서게 만드는 이유가 됩니다.
또한 결말 부분은 꽤 중대합니다. 밝히진 않겠지만 연대기 이후에 일리단 책이 나온 이유를 알게끔 해주는 몇몇 중대한 설정을 담고 있습니다. 이 책에 그런 정보가 없었다면 말이 안 되는 부분들이죠. 한 가지 힌트는 드리겠습니다: 실바나스는 케리건이 아닙니다.
첨언: 반델이 게임 상에 등장했으면 좋겠네요. 그는 다시 등장하지 않아도 되기엔 너무나 중요해졌습니다.
실바나스가 나오냐구요? 전혀 아닙니다. 저는 군단 관련 게시물에서 모두가 실바나스는 공허의 유산 결말의 케리건처럼 되어버릴 것이라고 말하는 것에 대해 얘기한 거에요. 실바나스는 케리건과 비교해야할 인물이 아닙니다. 이게 제가 말할 전부입니다.
일리단은 바쉬를 그의 조언자들 중에서도 가장 좋아했습니다. 그녀만이 자신에게 온전하고 변함없는 충성심을 보였다고 여겼습니다. 그럼에도 일리단은 바쉬가 죽었다는 것을 알았을 때 전혀 신경도 쓰지 않았습니다.
우리 플레이어들은 불타는 군단을 위해 그들의 명령을 따르고, 군단을 물리칠 최고의 기회를 날려버린, 잘못된 길을 간 멍청이들로 묘사됩니다. 더 말하면 너무 스포일러가 되겠네요.
One of the last things that happens is: Maiev seriously considers (and has to use a great degree of willpower to restrain herself from) killing the player characters right after the raid on the Black Temple because she's angry that they "stole her kill" even though she's the one who landed the killing blow on Illidan.
마지막에 일어나는 일: 마이에브는 그녀가 일리단에게 결정타를 가했음에도 그녀의 일리단 처치를 빼앗은 모험가들에게 너무나 화가 났기 때문에 검은 사원 공격대가 끝난 직후 플레이어를 죽여버릴 것에 대해 진지하게 고민(자제하기 위한 의지를 극도로 발휘하며)해야만 했습니다.

군단 인게임에서 드러나는 실바나스와 달리 반전에 반전이 또 있는 걸까요? 아니면 케리건과 다르다는 점은 온 우주의 구원자가 아니라는 와우 결말의 형태에 대해 말하는 걸까요?
또한 마이에브도 인게임에서 짤막하게 드러나는 모습과는 다른 인상일 수 있겠네요.
또한 크로니클의 설정을 보충하는 다른 설정이 있다는 점이 무척 흥미롭습니다. 크로니클이 기존 알려진 역사에 그랬듯 크로니클의 설명을 마치 뒤엎는 것처럼 새로운 설정이 추가되는 걸 수 있을까요.
