So I've been getting hammered in tells about how this staff works. I've been doing some testing this past day and how it works is pretty simple, but the procs from DD spells and DOTs are different. You cast a DD spell, let's take icelance for example, the staff procs and instantly casts another icelance . The damage is applied instantly(there is NO travel time on the proc), but you can see the graphic of a second icelance traveling towards your target. Here is an example of the proc:
14:40:28> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(10466 Overkill) (Critical)
14:40:28> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(10418 Overkill) (Critical)
Now, when you cast a spell and it hits, if the staff procs and the second spell is cast, the second can crit even though your first one didn't. For example:
14:20:55> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(5331 Overkill)
14:20:55> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(11015 Overkill) (Critical)
In return, the proc can also hit if you crit your initial spell. Example:
14:25:23> Siiz's Frostbolt hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(27912 Overkill) (Critical)
14:25:24> Siiz's Frostbolt hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(13511 Overkill)
How it works with DOTS
Instead of coping the spell like it does with DD spells or instant, DOTs are different. If the staff procs on a DOT tick, instead of casting the same "spell", it will cast Wrath of Tarecgosa, and match the damage of the DOT rick (not the whole damage of the DOT over its duration). For example:
15:23:01> Training Dummy suffers 1 Fire damage from Siiz's Living Bomb.(5453 Overkill)
15:23:02> Siiz's Wrath of Tarecgosa hits Training Dummy for 1 Arcane.(5453 Overkill)
15:23:04> Training Dummy suffers 1 Fire damage from Siiz's Living Bomb.(5454 Overkill)
15:23:05> Siiz's Wrath of Tarecgosa hits Training Dummy for 1 Arcane.(5454 Overkill)
15:23:07> Training Dummy suffers 1 Fire damage from Siiz's Living Bomb.(5453 Overkill)
15:23:07> Siiz's Wrath of Tarecgosa hits Training Dummy for 1 Arcane.(5453 Overkill)
Right now it seems it will always match the damage of the DOT tick, unlike DD spells where the proc can crit or hit.
Here is another example of a DOT, but critting this time.
15:22:31> Training Dummy suffers 1 Fire damage from Siiz's Living Bomb.(12431 Overkill) (Critical)
15:22:31> Siiz gains Siiz's Electrical Charge (4).
15:22:32> Siiz's Wrath of Tarecgosa hits Training Dummy for 1 Arcane.(12431 Overkill)
I tested the staff when I had 2 FoF charges up. I cast icelance and consumed my first charge of FoF, the staff procced and instantly cast another icelance and consumed the second FoF charge. Here is the combat log for this event:
15:46:48> Siiz gains Siiz's Fingers of Frost (2).
15:46:50> Siiz casts Ice Lance at Training Dummy.
15:46:50> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(32881 Overkill) (Critical)
15:46:50> Siiz's Fingers of Frost (1) diminishes.
15:46:50> Siiz's Ice Lance hits Training Dummy for 1 Frost.(33590 Overkill) (Critical)
15:46:51> Siiz's Fingers of Frost fades from Siiz.
I'm still working on the proc rate of the staff, and to see if the proc rate could be higher for frost given that it's a pet spec. I'm also still testing how it works with DOTS.
Flame orb/FFO don't seem to be benefiting from the staff, probably because I don't think it's considered a direct damage or DOT spell.
If your "copied" fireball crits it can trigger ignite, and ignite also benefits from the staff proc. Meaning the ignite DOT can proc wrath of tarecgosa.
PLEASE realize this is a huge work in progress and many things I have not tested yet. I am trying my best to test a lot of things so it will take some time. Be patient =)
