Open Division returns with a new pro points system, which will provide consistent opportunities for players to test out their skill anytime, anywhere via a regional ladder on the GameBattles platform. This ladder will have the ability to highlight top teams and players throughout the year. Additionally, every individual who plays on the ladder will be able to earn pro points each week. Pro points will also be up for grabs in our a series of cups that will be announced for the relevant regions each time there's an opportunity to play for Contenders Trials spots or additional pro points are up for grabs.
This first round of invites for Trials will work the same way they did last year, through a double elimination tournament. Initial seeding and prerequisites to signup for future qualifiers may require a certain threshold of pro points. Each cup will outline its specific rules when announced.
The first cups for the year, taking place in the NA and EMEA regions, are open to anyone, with the top 2 teams receiving invites to the first Contenders Trials tournament in those two regions. If you're not one of the top teams, cash prizing and pro points are also up for grabs!

Pro points are awarded throughout the year from ladder matches and pro point cups. The cups will grant significantly more pro points than ladder matches. These amounts can be found in our full legal rules. Pro points are assigned to an individual, so it's important you compete with your main account!
Ladder teams are fluid and can change prior to starting a match with an opponent - Cup teams are not fluid and will be locked once registration closes, no exceptions.
Ladders may be reset throughout the year to create relevant leaderboards to the game's current balance, pro points will not be reset during the 2021 season.
Players can only compete on one ladder, so be sure to choose the one that makes the most sense for your situation. Should you need to switch regions at a point during the year, you can contact Gamebattles admins via the help link on each ladder page.
