올해에 어떤 리워크가 이뤄지느냐 라는 질문에 대한 답변입니다.

맞아 그게 (요릭 리워크) 현 계획이야. 라이즈, 요릭, 그리고 한 챔피언 더. 조금 야심적이긴 하지만, 그래도 굉장히 가능성있지. :)

미스터리 챔피언 개발 중 어느 단계에 그가 누구 인지 알수 있는거지?

일단 챔피언이 확고한 디자인, 서술, 그리고 아트 방향성을 가지게 되면 우리는 좀더 거리낌없이 말할수 있어. 그게 일어나기 전에는 작업은 동결(iceboxed)되고, 과거에 우리가 이야기 했던것들이 끝에 가서는 잘 풀리지 않았지 (예로 아오신이라든지, 과거 워윅 리워크).

일단 우리가 챔피언에 대해서 이야기 하고 챔피언 업데이트 스케쥴 페이지 상에 올라가게 되면, 우리가 이 챔피언을 내놓을 것이라고 강하게 생각하고 있다고 보면 될거 같아. 우리가 둘러보고 있는 다른 챔피언들은 요릭/라이즈 전에 실제로 내놓을거라고 생각하지 않으니깐.

그러니 짧게 답변하자면, 챔피언이 답사 단계에서 제작 준비 단계로 넘어가게 되면 우리가 조금더 편하게 말할수 있어.

현재 우리는 2개의 VGU 팀을 가지고 있어. 한쪽은 라이즈를 담당하고, 다른 한쪽은 요릭. 일단 그 둘이 실제로 작업중이기 때문에 우리가 편하게 이야기 할수 있는거야. 우리는 다른 챔피언들도 극초반 답사 단계에 있지만 실제 작업 준비 단계로 넘어갈 수도 넘어가지 못 할수도 있어.

After which phase of this mystery champ's development would we actually be hearing who it is?

Once a champion has a strong design, narrative and art direction we feel more comfortable talking about it. Before that happens work can easily be iceboxed, and in the past talking about those things early haven't always ended great (like Ao Shin for example, or the previous WW rework)

Once we talk about a champion and it gets onto the champion update schedule page we feel pretty strongly that we will actually ship that champion. Any champions we are exploring past Yorick/Ryze aren't far along enough were we feel strongly they will actually ship.

So I guess the short answer is, when a champion goes from exploration phase to pre-production phase we feel comfortable talking about it.

Right now we have 2 VGU teams, one working on Ryze and one working on Yorick. Since those are actively being worked on we feel comfortable talking about them. We have other champions in super early exploration that may or may not ever enter pre-production.

하지만 라이즈는 벌써 전에 업데이트 하지 않았었어? 이번거는 VU (비쥬얼 업데이트, Visual Update)랑 같이 오게 되는거야?

이건 신규 모델, 음성(VO), 애니메이션, 그리고 게임플레이가 추가되는 VGU (비쥬얼 게임 업데이트, Visual Game Update)가 될 거야. 타릭 VGU나 뽀삐 VGU급이 아닌 트리스타나 VGU나 갱플랭크 VGU와 비슷하다고 보면 될거 같아.

맞아, 우리는 작년에 라이즈의 게임플레이를 업데이트 했었지만, 우리가 원하는 만큼 도달하지 못했다고 생각해. 아트 변경을 포함한 풀 VGU를 통해서 조금 더 디자인을 진행시킬수 있을거야.

But didn't you like just do a Ryze update not long ago? Will this one actually come with a VU?

It will be a VGU, so new model, VO, animations and gameplay. Similar in scope to the Tristana VGU and the Gangplank VGU, rather then the Taric/Poppy VGU's.

Yes, we updated his gameplay last year but we didn't quite hit the mark we wanted to. When doing a full VGU with art changes you can push design much further.
