저도 배경 스토리가 중요하다는 점에는 동의합니다.그리고 개인적으로 배경 스토리를 잘 내놓는 것을 좋아하기도 합니다. 하지만, 저는 몇가지 문제들을 겪고 정의의 저널을 읽는것을 그만두었습니다. 정의의 저널은 너무 텍스트가 많고 게임에 영향을 주는 내용은 별로 없었기 때문입니다. 정의의 저널 마지막 날, 저희가 룬테라를 어떻게 만들든 리그 오브 레전드의 플레이어 95% 가량이 배경 스토리와 게임을 통해 소통을 한다는 것입니다.
이것이 배경 스토리가 게임에 직접 접목될 때 훨씬 더 쿨하다고 생각하는 이유입니다. 프렐요드 이벤트와 세명의 여왕 미니게임 (밝히자면 Meddler와 제가 이 미니게임을 구상했고, 그래서 조금 편향적일겁니다)은 정말 쿨했죠. 아니면 루시안의 로그인 스크린이나 야스오의 출시 이전 스토리 공개, 징크스의 바이 챔피언 페이지 테러처럼요.
당신이 방대한 양의 텍스트와 소설에서 나오는 배경 스토리를 원한다는 것을 알지만, 저희는 사람들이 게임에 별 영향이 없는 글들을 읽지 않아도 복잡한 배경 스토리를 풀어나갈 수 있다고 생각합니다. 저희는 항상 배경 스토리를 풀어나가는 새로운 방법을 모색하고 있습니다. 지켜봐 주세요.
I agree that lore is important, and I personally love it when we pull off lore well. However, I stopped reading the JoJ after just a few issues. It was just too much text with too little actual game impact. In the end of the day, the primary way in which 95% of our playerbase interacts with whatever we end up creating for Runeterra is by playing the game.
That's why I think lore that ties directly into the game is so much cooler. The Freljord event and the three queens minigame (full disclosure: Meddler and I implemented the minigame, so I may be biased here) is much cooler. Or things like Lucian's login screen, Yasuo's pre-release story reveal, Jinx vandalizing Vi's champion page and so on.
I understand you lore fiends want bigger chunks of text and fiction to sink your teeth into, but I think we can do deep, complex lore without requiring people to read something which then has little to no game impact. We're always exploring new ways to do this kind of thing, so stay tuned.
